I hope less battery life is not a new trend. It will keep me from upgrading indefinitely.

In the new 6" reader the battery is 1500 mAh like the glo hd.

If this reader does end up coming to market i think i might of finally found my PW3 replacement! 8" strikes a nice balance between 6" - 9.7" readers, hopefully they can make it lightweight enough to not fatigue long session one handed reading. Unlike the kindle oasis i would be more than happy for them to reduce battery life to make a larger e reader non-heavy,fingers crossed! |

Should be interesting. Hopefully the new device will keep the SD card slot, and at a minimum keep the screen quality of the H2O but preferably improve upon it.

If they gave it a skinny bezel like a cellphone, a 6.8" reader would still be comfortable one-handed. BIG if.

The screenshots in both sets of FCC docs look like eInk to me, though I suppose there's no guarantee that means anything for the production release.
I'm surprised nobody here has talked much about the new 6" model - Kobo Aura Edition 2, or Kobo Aura One? Last edited by chrisridd; 06-27-2016 at 03:01 PM. Reason: Corrected the name |

7.8". Wow. That would be something to see. (I know Onyx has already done an 8", but I am not likely to ever be in a position to see one in a store.)
I really hope Kobo is going with the new i.Mx 7Dual for this. New controller + larger HD screen = goodness imho. :-D Still, it would take something catastrophic to happen to my Aura H2O for me to buy one. (Which I cannot rule out, given the sad fate of my Aura HD.) |

And thanks for making me go check; I found another name for the 6" model. It's called the Kobo Aura Editions 2. |

For myself, I'm completely happy with the Kobo Glo HD and I much prefer a 6" size for portability and comfort. Since they gave these the name "Aura", I'm assuming that means they'll have a flush screen and be capacitive touch, both of which I really dislike. Really really dislike. There's no way I would use a capacitive touch reader. So that means I have zero interest in any of their new readers, 6" or 7.8" or larger.

As for the screen size, going back a couple of years, Kobo was first out with the 6.8" screen so being first with a 7.8" screen is quite believable. |

I'll have to at least see what those readers are if and when they're actually released in that case. Although I honestly can't see anything they can do better than the Glo HD, I'm really very happy with that reader.
