Generally this indicates an issue with QT and the video driver. If you can't find an updated video driver, reverting to an earlier version of calibre or replacing the video card (if that is even possible) are pretty much the only options.

If you just updated to 4.11.2, what version were you previously on?

I would suggest reverting to that version then. Calibre updates often include updates to the QTWebEngine package and QT seems to be blacklisting graphics cards with enthusiasm.

You might want to take a look at the Editor shuts down automatically thread for some comments from the developers of calibre and Sigil on QT.

There should be no Qt issues between 4.10 and 4.11. This will be because the window is opening offscreen, probably because you recently
connected a secondary monitor or tv or similar. You can bring the window back onscreen
by using the technique described here:

Well I doubt that is the reason due to the fact that I haven’t connected one to my laptop.

"Missing' secondary monitor is but one trigger for the main calibre window not appearing. But in recent times there have several of instances of calibre windows 'going off screen'.

Until recently I would have said it was limited to secondary (dialogue) windows, but last week someone had the problem with the Viewer not appearing. The solution has been to use the 'Fix 3' option in the link Kovid provided. You should try it in this case -- if you haven't already done so.

Any luck with reverting to an earlier version?

Have you tried running the viewer standalone?
