Want to add the series number to the title of a book

I have a series of 47 books. What I would like to do is to add the series number to the title so that they sort correctly on my eReader.

In Calibre, I selected all 47 books and launched "Edit metadata" in bulk.

I then selected the "Search and Replace" tab.

I changed search mode to Regular Expression and selected the title as the search field. I then searched for "^" to match the beginning of the title.

What I want to do now is to insert the series_index into the replacement field.

Is that possible?

It is better to keep the series index in the series index field.

Try using the plugboard instead. That means that the title of the book is modified when it is sent to the device. And you can have the series name and index before the book title.

I figured it out.

The trick is to have the source field be series_info and the destination field be title. If you make the mode "prepend" it will put the series info in front of the title.

I considered that, but I only wanted to have the series info for this one specific series. Generally, there are few enough books in a series that I don't have a problem finding the next book.
