Question User dictionaries

Hi,
Where the user dictionaries will be stored? (in which directory?)

How to memorize compound words with non-breaking hyphens? (ie. Pé-Tchi-Li)

Jean-M

PS: excuse my bad English

User dictionaries are in the file prefs.json file, which is in the configuration directory, which can be opened via the main GUI program (library manager), go to Preferences->Miscellaneous and click Open configuration directory

Sorry I can't answer this

What happens if you add the compound word (using non breaking hyphen) to a user dictionary manually - there could be a language dependency.

Good evening
Tanks for your replies.

Would it be possible to store a .dic file in the .epub file, even if that is not envisaged by the standard?
If not, how to correctly work on various machines equipped each one with "Calibre-Editor" configured differently?

Jean-M
In french (because bad English) :
Serait-il envisageable de stocker un fichier .dic dans le fichier .epub, même si cela n'est pas prévu par la norme ?
Sinon, comment travailler correctement sur différentes machines équipées chacune de "Calibre-Editor" configurés différemment ?

Dictionaries are part of the Reading App/Device, not part of a book.

A Glossary (linked or un-linked) might be included within the book for special terms

@Jean-M - A .dic file is list of words in a text file. Copy and rename to .txt and convert to epub. This is a bit of one of my .dic files

Code:
épatant
éperdu
éperdue
épicier
épicier's
épiciers
épris
éprise
éprouvette
éprouvette's
éprouvettes
épuisé
épuisée
épée
épée's
épées
For user dictionaries, go to Edit->Preferences->Editor settings->Manage spelling dictionaries->Manage user dictionaries, there you can grab the content of a user dictionary by right clicking in the user dictionary word list; then do a Select all, followed by a Copy to clipboard. Paste the clipboard into a text file and convert - or into the editor itself and save.

Curious - but why would you want to do that ?

If you want to keep dictionaries in sync across multiple computers with calibre editor, you might want to try calibre portable.

The one issue is you would have to launch the library and then open the book, since only the main executable is portablized.

Hi,
I work out Calibre library on ancient documents .txt scan result (not very good). There are names of characters and places with hyphens (china in 1900, Boxers revolt).
Machines where I work are not always connected to the web.
